Importing of luxury cars soar in the first half of the year in Brazil

Encouraged by the appreciation of brazilian real, importating of cars – including luxury brands such as Ferrari, Porsche and BMW – have soared in the first half of this year in Brazil.
From January to June, sales of independent importers of vehicles totaled 90,340 units, more than double the volume in the first half of 2010 when 42,380 cars were imported, according to information released by Abeiva, an entity that represents these independent importers.
In the first six months of 2011, 24 cars of the Ferrari brand were sold, BMW’s sales rose to 5,090 cars, and imports of Porsche cars in Brazil reached 594 units.
